On My End
Matt Alberts weekly@webcom.com
As many of you saw in your mailboxes, some of the addresses
changed this week with the creation of WBAds. Hopefully this
doesn't cause a lot of problems for anyone in the future, but
hopefully everone has bookmarked those for the future. Here's
more info.
WBAds
WBAds was designed to meet the ever growing needs of businesses
finding the internet and WWW as a viable business tool to
announce themselves to the community. WBAds was spawned from
the Weekly Bookmark which was designed also for the same needs.
WBAds contains business and corporate announcements and press
releases that are of interest to a large amount of readers.
Despite its business nature, WBAds will not be a publication
filled with advertisements of specials for products or
services. It will only consist of corporate announcements. If
you are still skeptical, stop by and see the first issue as it
is created.
You can visit WBAds at:
http://www.webcom.com/weekly/wbads.html.
You can subscribe to the WBAds Distribution list via a WWW form at:
http://www.webcom.com/weekly/wbads/subscribe.html
OR via E-mail by sending a message to: wbads-request@webcom.com
Include ONLY the following in the BODY Subscribe WeeklyB
or Unsubscribe WeeklyB.
For now, enjoy this issue of the Weekly Bookmark!

Art and Literature
A Spot for my Thoughts
Well, this is just a place for me to display some of my
"poems". Nothing really special; plus I have some links
that could be of use/interest. I don't think the "poems"
are that great, but you may. Who knows.

Science
First International Virtual Conference on Mad Science
Theme
Mad science is a much maligned domain of human knowledge
and its practitioners have for too long been relegated to
B-movies and remote ancestral estates. IVCMS provides an
international forum for the presentation, discussion and
extension of research into these darkly powerful
pseudosciences and dangerous technologies which fall
beyond the scope of conventional science and good taste.
The purpose of the conference is to promote a general
understanding of mad topics within the broader scientific
community, to encourage new researchers to dabble with
things best left alone, to attract commercial sponsors to
the potential benefits of mad science in the business
world, and to replace the old drooling maniac stereotype
of the mad scientist with a new drooling maniac image
which is more appropriate to the modern era. The
conference will be hosted in a suitably baroque homepage
to avoid the overheads of unpredictable atmospheric
conditions and revolting peasants.
Focus
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Creating life to satisfy egocentric motives. Unleashing
entities beyond human control and comprehension.
Tampering with the life-sustaining forces of the
Universe. Exceeding the limitations of the human body via
grotesque metamorphoses. New applications for old
technologies (alchemy, necromancy, etc.). Ill-advised
collaboration with alien and/or supernatural
intelligences. Life-long devotion to researching the
pointless and inane. Callous disregard for human
experimental subjects. Exacting bizarre revenge on
contemptuous and derisive peers.
